19 01 2008

CD Art Display is a skinnable gadget that appears on your desktop and shows the CD cover of the currently playing song. It reads cover from player’s database, local folder or ID3v2 tag and can also search for covers online if they are not found locally. The software offers a slick interface with transparency and alpha shading and playback controls to pause or skip to the next track in the playlist. Other features include lyrics display, lyrics editing, cover display in tray icon and more. CD Art Display currently supports AlbumPlayer, Helium Music Manager, iTunes, Winamp, Windows Media Player, MediaMonkey and partially supports foobar2000 (with Winamp API Emulator plugin), MP3Toys, qmp and musikCube.

How To Show Your Name in Windows Taskbar

25 09 2007

Though there are thousands of Windows XP tips and tricks but some of them are very easy to implement and at the same time very fun to do. Today I have a sweet Windows XP trick for you that will give your Windows a personal touch and will also let you show off your name branding in front of your non-geek friends. Basically this trick will let you display a name of your choice (preferably your own name) in the Windows Taskbar just beside the digital time clock.

Show Your Name in Taskbar near Digital Time

Follow the steps and see the sweet magic

  1. Open Start Menu and then open Control Panel
  2. Double click Regional and Language Options
  3. Click Customize (besides English U.S drop down menu)
  4. Go to Time tab and change AM/PM symbols to the name of your choice

and you are done. Now that was fast and easy wasn’t it? Enjoy. Here is what I came up with

Block Unwanted Scraps in Orkut Scrapbook

24 09 2007

Orkut was always looked down upon when compared to other social networking websites due to its low privacy features and security holes which could get your Orkut account hacked or even cause you to lose some very personal information but the recent addition of a new feature to the Orkut system shall now ensure that Orkut will be safe enough to compete with other social networks like Facebook and MySpace.

How To Block Unwanted Scraps on Orkut

“Friends and Friends Only Scraps” (Thats what I call it) is a new feature that has been recently added to the Orkut system and will ensure that you get scraps only from the people you trust i.e. friends and family etc. This will block all unwanted scraps in your scrapbook from people who usually used to spam you or irritate you for no reason. The new great feature will make sure that you don’t get links to any malicious scripts and websites and will also prevent unknown people from writing something abusive or unethical on your scrapbook.

Follow the simple little steps to set up the “Friends and Friends Only Scraps” Feature

  1. Open Orkut Privacy Settings
  2. See the third row which says “allow scraps to be written by”
  3. In the drop down menu select “Friends”
  4. Save changes and You are done

    Happy Orkutting!!!
